QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • HI there, could I know if it s possible for a international shipping to Hong Kong?

I'm sorry, shipping is Australia only. You could contact Whisker.com for distributors nearer to you.

  • Can you tell me if you have any plastic collection bags for the litter robot . If you don’t can you please let me know when they may be available ?

Apologies that we are currently sold out of the LR3 waste liners. You can use any kitchen bin liner that has a large enough opening, minimum 50cm. Do register to be notified when we have more stock, as we are working to restock asap.

  • Would you know when you will be stocking in the Litter Robot 4?

Thank you for your email and interest in the LR4.

We will be getting stocks of the new and exciting LR4 asap but have no release dates for international distribution yet.

Release of new products is always restricted to USA first, overseas later after trialing and troubleshooting in USA to make sure any issues are addressed as best as possible prior to making the product available overseas.

We are hoping for stock to be in hand by Christmas but this is really more of a wish than an expectation.

More realistically is sometime in 2023, so quite a wait yet.

We also don't have any pricing, but with the USA pricing as a very rough guide, our expectation is the LR4 will be considerably more expensive than the Connect, which is more expensive than the standard (non-wifi) LR3.

If you would like to be added to the waitlist for the LR4, please reply with LR4 interest in the subject line and I will pop your email onto our notifications so that we can advise when it looks like we will have stock becoming available for Australia.

I trust this assists and do ask if you have further questions. Current anticipation for LR3 restocking is early June 2022.

NOTE The LR3 will still be available and fully supported, rather than retired on LR4 release. Its a very durable option designed for self repair for added longevity, providing a sound investment if you are wanting to stop scooping asap!

  • My cats love the corn-based clumping litter by Rufus and Coco. Is this compatible with the litter robot? We also like that the litter is flushable.

HI Paige, thank you for your interest in the amazing Litter-Robot and excellent question. Unfortunately, Rufus and Coco is not suitable as the larger size, and lighter material, mean it will not go through the seive properly, and will be dumped with the soiled litter. If  you are particularly liking organic, we have an excellent Tofu litter with carbon, suitable for the Robot, on our website. Tofu users rate it very highly (low ratings are from clay users ;o). Price includes shipping, and consumption is approx 1 ltr per cat per week, (or 1kg), so its very economical in the Robot. If you prefer corn based, the Worlds Best Corn Clumping litter is suitable, red bag best (no scent) but do see if your cats like it by trying in the manual tray  first, so you are ready for the Robot with suitable litter being used! Do ask if you need further information.

  • Hello! I am looking at purchasing this for my wonderful furry companions (based on recommendations from friends!) But I note that this is available for pre order, and I'm wondering on the timelines for this as I am currently building a house, and need to know which address I should get this sent to ? alternatively, would I be able to change the address if I move before this is back in stock? Many thanks

Dear Celia, thank you for your interest in the amazing Litter-Robot III Open Air. It certainly is a very good appliance for managing your lovely cats litter tray! Im sorry we are sold out. We have more on the way but at the moment, anticipated arrival is mid May. We are looking to do pre-order when we have a firmer timeline, mid April at this stage. If you do buy at pre-order, as long as you let us know when to change address, we can do so with no charge. Its only if your order ships that change of address is problematic. We do have specifications (size) on the standard Litter-Robot product page, so you can check fit for your new home too.I hope this helps! Do register to be notified on our website product page and we will let you know when pre-order opens. As a tip, make sure you have your cats using suitable clay clumping litter  in their manual system BEFORE introducing the Robot, as familiar litter will help them recognise the Robot is the new litter box, just a different shape, and will make transition faster and easier for all.

  • Is it possible to purchase under NDIS payment plan?

We have had a number of suitably qualified clients purchase a Litter-Robot III Open Air  as part of the NDIS payment plan, to help them with the difficulties of managing a litter tray for their companion cats. Most of the purchases have been for Connect version, as it provides the ability to have support system remote monitoring. Its best to get in touch, with OT contact encouraged to provide insight into how helpful the Litter-Robot is as a litter box solution. Call 1300 350 635 or email sales@catevolution.com.au

  • Is there a list of litter that is compatible with it? Or is it any clumping litter? I currently switch between vitapet kitchen clumping and trouble n trix clumping, would they be ok to use with it? Also I find that it currently gets stuck on the litter box itself and I have to scrub it off, what is to prevent this from doing the same? I've also read that it has a 90 day return.. so if my cats won't use it I can return it? If so how would that work with shipping? I'm just unsure if my scaredy cats will be ok with it !Another thing is if you have one cat that goes and then after it leaves the other one goes in does it have a sensor as they are going in? If that makes sense. Just worried that if one leaves and the cycle starts as the other one is going in.One more thing.. one of my cats can be a bit wobbly on her back legs sometimes due to medication she is on is it a bit high for them to get in and out of? Thanks in advance!

The Litter-Robot is designed to work with most clay clumping litters. Particle size and weight is important in the sieving process. If unsure please ask and we will endeavour to help!VitaPet and T&T are suitable, but T&T needs to be at most, 2cm under the line on the liner, as its very dense (heavy for volume). Also, use unscentedFast clumping litter is better to avoid sticking issues. The Liner does have a weight on the underside so that when it is un dump position upside down, the liner drops down to help crack off any litter that maybe stuck to the liner. If the Robot is unsuitable, it needs to be returned within 90 days cleaned, in original box with manuals etc, to our workshop in NSW for checking. If you want us to arrange return courier, we can do so but the cost is deducted from the purchase price for the Robot when the refund is completed. The cat sensor is weight activated. If a cat enters, the cat sensor will stop rotation or if in timing mode, restart the timing mode once the cat exits. For your wobbly kitty, the ramp or stairs provide a gentle entry, and exit, and also, help with tracking by keeping litter that comes of paws on the curved steps.

  • Do the robots come with AUS power plug? Thanks

Yes, we have Australia compliant power plugs, not USA ones ;o)

  • Hi. Do the cat robots have the correct Australian plug? Or do you have to use an adaptor? Thanks

yes, we have Australia compliant power plugs, not USA ones ;o) No adapter needed!

  • Hi, just wondering if this unit will fit a very large cat? i.e. a Maine CoonThanks!

The Litter-Robot III open air is the largest available automatic cat litter box in Australia.

It was upsized to fit Maine Coons and Ragdolls, and has no upper weight limit, but needs 2.25kg cat minimum.

The correct BIG CAT position is enter and turn, with the egg shape providing shoulder room, and step front paws back onto the entry lip, head out in the 'open air' and bottoms inside for business.

  • I own the connect version ive used around 3 different clumping litters for it but everytime the pee will clump and stick to the base of the robot and while it cycles it does not come off. Is there anything i can do about this? Im having to manually scrap it off and its not pleasant at all.

There is a huge variety in litters available. The key to good litter for the Robot is fast clumping, low dust, and if possible, carbon or activated charcoal for odour help. For setting, if you are getting muddy streaks and unset litter when cycling, you may need to change the wait time or clumping time to allow longer for your chosen litter to set. Press and hold the EMPTY button for 3-5 seconds until one of the lights starts to flash. Blue is 3 minutes, yellow 7 minutes, red 15 minutes. Change by pressing RESET to toggle through the colour until you have the one longer than current setting, if you need more time to clump up. Press and hold EMPTY button for 3-5 seconds to save (light stops flashing). If the issue is because your cats pee is going through the litter and pooling on the liner, without being absorbed by the litter, then you most likely need faster clumping/more absorbent litter. However, if you are living in a high humidity climate, then you may have setting issues due to the moisture in the air as well as your cats additions, and a mix with something courser to help keep some structure maybe needed. For an alternative to clay litter, Applaws crush walnut shell is used by some customers. If you have a light cat, the cat sensor may need adjustment (just ask).

  •  I'm having issues with the "drawer is full" blue flashing light. Using both alternative bags and the preferred bags for the litter robot.Given it's always flashing blue, I generally have to notice it and press reset for it to go back to normal functioning, but this is getting really irritating.

Please ensure that the bag is folded over and secured with the tabs and is not "sticking up" anywhere.  Please also ensure that there is no dust or debris on or inside the DFI lens that could be tripping the laser. The lens is easy to clean with a dry ear bud, gently wiping any dust off the black lens that is located within the half circle cut out in the cover. The DFI is located within the base cavity, and can be accessed by removing the waste tray and looking up to the right inside the cavity. It is a green board, under a clear cover with a half circle cut out. It can also be seen and accessed more easily with the Robot dismantled for deep cleaning. You can test by taking the tray out and pressing reset, and cycle, with a non-used litter bed so there is nothing to dump out. If you get litter scatter, vacuum before replacing the tray when finished. When finished cycle, if you have a solid blue light, then the issue is tray install, not DFI dust. If its still flashing, it will most likely be dust. Please provide a photo of the lens, for review, to sales@catevolution.com.au If that does not solve the issue, and you are confident you have fully cleaned the lens, please attempt recalibration of the DFI.  To recalibrate, first remove the waste drawer liner and any waste and ensure the DFI Lens is clear of dust and debris.  Then press and hold "Reset" for about 6 seconds until the light blinks, when it does, release the "Reset" button. This should recalibrate the DFI.

  • Why does my blue light flash on my Connect Litter-Robot when my tray is not full?

  •   Can more than one person in the house have the Litter-Robot Connected to their phone?

Anyone can log into the Litter-Robot with the same email and password (no onboarding requiredonce its been completed the first time). Download the App and login. Customers can only have 1email/password login for each Litter-Robot. If you have more than 1 Litter-Robot in the home, you can add them to the same email and password (onboarding required for each Litter-Robot).

  • I have travelled from my home and it seems my Litter Robot Connect has gone offline. It was working fine before I left and I have been told that it is still cycling as normal in my absence. Is there anything I can do to fix it from my end or do I need someone at home to do something? Although there are other people at home, they are not too familiar with the operation of the Litter Robot and I want to be getting the notifications for when it cycles or if there are any issues.

Ask someone at home to perform a power cycle.  Review if app connected again.  (successful!!)If not, check the following. Is the Litter-Robot is too far from the router and not in range of the wifi?A few items to consider:1)If it's in the basement - customer may want to get a WiFi extender for the basement area2)Brick walls will block the WiFi Signal3)Sometimes the difference of the room door open or closed can also result in poor signal strength. Please note that even though the Litter-Robot says offline, it's still functioning, just not reporting to the App during this period. If needed, the following may also assist, if there has been an App update. While in the App, press log out.Delete the app from their phone.Power down phone.Power phone back up and download App with updates.Log in using the same email address and password.

  • Does Litter-Robot push automatic security/firmware updates to the device/app?

Yes, we actively monitor security issues/flaws and have a mechanism in place for pushing over the air updates.

  • Does the litter box require a password? If so, does it prompt the user to choose a strong, unique password?

Direct access to the Litter-Robot only occurs during the onboarding process (connecting the unit to your local WiFi network). When onboarding, the unit acts as an access point and requires the user to connect with a provided password. Once onboarded, the unit only communicates with our backend servers as well as the app.

  • Does the litter box/app use encryption? If so, what kind?

Yes, when connecting to the Servers, the app uses HTTPS. Any sensitive information saved locally (e.g. access tokens) are stored through platform-specific secure storage. Auto-Pets devices use TLS/SSL as well when communicating with the servers.

  • Do you ship to PO Boxes?

No, we cannot ship the Litter-Robot  to PO Boxes, due to size. Other items ordered are usually shipped with Australia Post and can be delivered to PO Boxes.

  • What if I already own a Litter-Robot 3? Can I upgrade my Litter-Robot?

Yes. You can make your Litter-Robot 3 compatible with the app by purchasing the Litter-Robot Connect Base or installing the Litter-Robot Connect Upgrade Kit. Contact sales@catevolution.com.au for more information if you cant see the items on the website under accessories.

Yes! You can connect your Litter-Robot to 650+ relevant smart home products using the free and easy platform IFTTT. Learn more here.

  • Can everyone in the family use the app?

Yes. If others in your household want to use the app, they can simply download the app to their device and log in with the same account.

  • Can I connect the app to multiple Litter-Robot units?

Yes. You can onboard multiple WiFi-enabled Litter-Robot units to the same app.

  • Can I use the app with both iOS and Android?

The Connect app is compatible with Apple mobile devices with iOS 9.0 or greater and Android devices 6.0 or greater. Both the iOS app and the Android app is currently available to download.

  • What is the difference between the Litter-Robot 3 and the Litter-Robot 3 Connect?

Both appliances are Litter-Robot III Open Air. The Connect has a different main circuit board, which enables it to send notifications and receive some instructions via the Whisker App. The advantages are early (multiple)notifications if there is an issue with UTI development in susceptible cats; history for vet information; remote monitoring if working long hours, monitoring by a support or carer system as backup help; monitoring if away and catsitter visits are in place; peace of mind if you have lots of cats using 1 Robot ;o)

  • When will the Connect ship (as it is saying pre-order)

We have them in Australia, and they should arrive at the warehouse Wednesday, and with any luck, ship Thursday or Friday this week. You may find the following information helpful (noting the date change).Pre-order is available for you to secure your exciting new WIFI enabled Litter-Robot, so pounce here https://catevolution.com.au/lr3-connect.html  Do please note that this is pre-order. Whilst CONNECT has landed, it is still in process and not expected to arrive in the warehouse for shipping until 18 November. We will do our best to meet this date, but purrlease continue to be patient, its not long meow! While you wait, please review and download the APP for your device: You can review the APP here: https://www.litter-robot.com/the-app.html  Installation links: APPLEhttps://apps.apple.com/us/app/litter-robot-connect/id1240404534 ANDROIDhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.autopets.whiskers.android&hl=en_US  As a tip, make sure you have your cats using suitable clay clumping litter  in their manual system BEFORE introducing the Robot, as familiar litter will help them recognise the Robot is the new litter box, just a different shape, and will make the transition faster and easier for all.  If you need assistance or more information, please do not hesitate to email sales@catevolution.com.au.

  • I am trying to ascertain how much noise it makes ? Is there anywhere I can see a demo?

The Robot makes the equivalent noise to a quiet dishwasher, when actually cycling, for approx 2 minutes. There is no noise when not cycling, as the motor is not turning. The Robot is in a number of semi-public locations around Australia, including some Cat Cafes, so if you advise your City, we maybe able to direct you to where you can see a Robot. There are also a lot of reviews on line, showing the Robot in action, which may help you with further assessing noise. There is also a sleep function, so that you can lock out the Robot for 8 hours per day, non-cycling, for light sleepers. The non-cycle period repeats at the same time daily, until you cancel it.The Litter-Robot is designed for indoor use, in small living spaces such as apartments. We have had ours in the lounge room and also in our bathroom opposite our kitchen, and both areas were and are not disruptive, as long as the space is available and a power point.

  • Our new robot has a wifi signal near the control buttons how do we set that up nothing mentioned in instruction book

Please email support@catevolution.com.au for assistance on connecting.

  • Does freshco clay clumping litter work with the litter robot 3?

Freshco Litter clumps well based on customer information, but is quite fine and dusty. Best to vacuum the base cavity area including DFI and pinch detectors to prevent dust buildup. Using the brush end on the vacuum is suggested.

  • Hi, Just want to know if you have to totally replace the litter at some stage with new or just add new litter when emptying the waste draw to keep it topped up. Thank you. Stuart.

Great question! It does depend on the quality of litter used. Good clumping litter with low dust and added odour help such as activated carbon, lets you top up only for longer than poor quality litter. As the litter will be clumping well leaving only clean litter when scooped, you can continue to use the litter rather than empty and throw out. Full empty and discard of litter is usually done when deep cleaning (full empty, wash globe and clean base, refill) which is needed from time to time depending on number of cats, climate and quality of litter used. If you have good clean litter, such as our Superior Clumping clay litter which I use, when I deep clean I actually empty the litter into a clean waste drawer liner and put the drawer out as a manual temporary litter tray whilst I wash and deep clean. When done, I tip the litter back into the Robot and cycle to scoop and then top up. Most litters, you are better to discard what remains as it may have odour and small particle left in it, so it is not clean enough to do this process. You can economise by letting the level get very low in the globe when you are planning to do a deep clean, so there is less being discarded.

  • Does this integrate with Google Home Assistant?

Yes, the Litter-Robot III Open Air Connect can be integrated.

Complete toilet care package for puss

What a life changer in this household since we’ve invested in the Litter Robot III.. It’s certainly proved a winner with our newly adopted Burmese from the RSPCA Malaga facility.. everyone’s a winner

If u like to waste money this is for u

Deciding if I should waste more money on replacing the DFI kit AGAIN. After replacing the last one after an unreasonable amount of time it's not working again back to the old fashion litter tray. It's been more trouble than it's worth

The Litter-Robot works a treat. It took my cat a couple of days before she was happy to use the new litter but now she is using it without any fuss. Im looking forward to not worrying when I go away and someone else is looking after her, knowing that she will have a clean litter box all the time.

Great for small to med cats only

This is not such a great product for larger cats. I have had mine for over a year now and am starting to see issues with it cycling. Sometimes it just freezes and won’t cycle, I have to unplug it for ten mins and turn it on again. My cat is a big cat so when he turns inside this machine he ends up with litter on his fur from the sides of the machine. Thankfully I wash my cat often but because of this I have pulled out his old tray and he prefers that. I hope someone invents an auto box for larger cats. This is good if you are out all day.

Sadly not working for me

I bought two standard Litter Robots about six months ago. Being on a pension this was a big investment but I was hopeful after reading the reviews that having these boxes would save me cleaning the trays three times a day. Unfortunately, despite following instructions and advice to the book only two of our cats will use the trays. I now have three regular trays and two huge Litter Robots to clean so I'm actually worse off. I find keeping the Robot clean inside difficult. There ends up being poop and gross litter stuck to the roof of the litter box. It doesn't come apart so they can't just be picked up, taken outside and hosed out. I have to clean them by hand with wet wipes which is really a disgusting job. It has been very hard work and very stressful trying to get all my cats to use the trays. I must be very unlucky as everyone else seems to have transitioned their cats effortlessly. I have decided to dispose of them which is terribly upsetting and disappointing.
