How Litter-Robot® works
Litter-Robot's patented technology sifts your cat's waste, so you don't have to.
No scooping, simplified.
-
1. Clump
When kitty is finished with their business, a timer counts down, allowing the litter to clump.
-
2. Cycle
The globe rotates and our patented sifting process separates dirty clumps from the clean litter.
-
3. Clean
Clumps drop into the sealed waste drawer below, leaving a clean bed of litter ready for the next visit.
Engineered with care. Designed to last.
Cat sensor technology
A weight-sensitive sensor detects when your cat enters and exits, recording daily activity for insights into your cat's health.
Advanced cat safety
The globe stops rotating automatically if your cat re-enters during a cleaning cycle, keeping even the most curious kitties safe.
Easy to clean
A simple modular design gives easy access for regular maintenance.
No required accessories
Our add-ons are great for customising your setup, but any clumping litter or regular bin liner works too.

What cat owners say
Frequently asked questions
Does Litter-Robot need special litter?
No. Litter-Robot does not need special litter or proprietary refills like some other self-cleaning litter boxes. It works well with almost any clumping litter. Litter beads and crystals small enough to pass through the screen also work. Plant-based litters may work, but they tend to form looser clumps that can cause condensation in the waste drawer. Litter-Robot is not compatible with litters that are only absorbent, non-clumping, loose-clumping, newspaper-based, or wood-based pellets.
How often do you empty a self-cleaning litter box?
It depends on the number and size of your cats. For two average-sized cats, twice a week is typical. For one cat, once a week is usually enough.
What happens if my cat tries to enter the globe while it is rotating?
Litter-Robot is designed with your cat's safety in mind. If your cat tries to enter while the globe is rotating, the cat sensor detects them by weight and stops the motor immediately. It waits 15 seconds, then tries to resume the cleaning cycle. If something is still tripping the sensor, the cycle will not resume and the lights will flash to show the problem.
