Trap unpleasant odors and keep the Litter-Robot III Open Air waste drawer fresh with replacement Carbon Filters.

  • (3) Carbon Filters
  • Compatible with Litter-Robot III Open Air

How often should I change the Carbon Filter?

For optimal odour absorption, we recommend changing the carbon filter every three months, if you have the recommended 2-3 cats per Robot. However,  replacement frequency is up to you and your cats usage patterns. If using scented litter,  the filter will need changing more often as it will also absorb the litter scent. Unscented litter is recommended. Frequency of changing the filter is dependent on number of cats, and litter being used, with carbon or activated charcoal helpful for additional odour control.

Note:The carbon filter is not necessary for the unit to function.

Q&A
Could you please advise when the carbon filters for the robot 3 will be available again!
We purchased the robot last year, and have such difficulty in purchasing these from you as they are never available.
Our cats wont go near the robot unless we completely empty the tray after every poo, and if we don't empty the tray, the cats do their business on the floor.
This kind of defeats the purpose of why we purchased the robot, not to mention the mess that we have to clean up when we come home from work!
Not really impressed to be honest, it’s become more work than a usual kitty tray!

Im sorry you have missed out on the Carbon Filters when stock has been landed.

Our apologies, as we are experiencing supply disruptions due to the effects of the pandemic.

We do expect to have more stock soon, either end of June or beginning of July.

In the interim, I have done some work to try and locate a suitable temporary help for when the filter is not effective any more. Please review the following, and see if it helps you.

Clean water gentle rinse of your filter, and sun dry, to refresh it. If you have already been doing this, you may find that it is overdue for replacement.

If you still have odour, a light spritz with an enzyme based cleaner can help. We have one in stock that is made for the Robot and good value as the spray here

Some people purchase aquarium filters and cut to size (on the internet).

I have also been testing BBQ briquettes from Bunnings - blue bag, 100% coconut charcoal no additives. They are a little messy, but popping about 5 in front of the waste drawer liner, against the filter, means the charcoal can absorb the odours before they reach the filter, effectively replacing the carbon for you.

Im sorry you have been missing out!

We do find the carbon filter important in odour help, and apologise that we are having some restocking issues this year due to the global pandemic effects on shipping and supplies!
Hi,

I need to order some of these carbon filters - do you know when you will have them back in stock?
( Heidi Harron, 05/05/2020 )

Dear Heidi, apologies for delay as the question did not pop up for me. We have new stock coming asap, but due to supply disruptions, we are anticipating July for arrival. In the interim, you can clean water gentle rinse your filter, and sun dry. Sniff test to see if there is odour. If there is you would normally order your next lot. Due to the delay, you have a few options. You can semiseal the filter by using foil to wrap it and lessen the odour that escapes the base. If you are using litter with carbon it it, such as our Premium Clay Clumping Litter, the carbon will help odour in globe and tray. If you have access to a wood fire, you can put charcoal in the tray, between liner and filter, as a temporary (messy) measure. We also have Litter-Robot spray cleaner that can be spritzed onto the filter to assist with odour. Apologies for being out of stock but we are working to restock asap!

Hi
Can the carbon filter be rinsed out in warm water and reused at least once? I saw a video that showed a full clean of the Litter Robot and it showed it could be.
( Elise Gillies, 17/02/2020 )

yes, you can gently rinse the filter with clean water (no detergent) and sun dry. A sniff test will tell you if there is still odour when dry, and that's when you need to consider replacing.

I use these they are great, like any filter in any kitty litter unit, we always give them a rinse with natural soap & water and put out in sun to dry and change with a dry one. When looses the charcoal we throw them but still using my original ones that come with the step kit, and the original one, we rinse weekly and replace with a dry one that is kept in a plastic bag, so far we have thrown away one, with 5 cats we clean out the tray every couple of days :) and the filter and tofu kitty litter replaced weekly - We love the Litter Robot and so do our cats

The robot itself is awesome... but the massive delays and nil stock of the carbon filters is ridiculous. So disappointed after the huge expense in purchasing the robot to have this area in sales let us down! The smell from the tray is gross, and getting this whiff when we enter our home after working all day is awful!
Kind of defeats the purpose of why we purchased the robot!

I have had these on order for so many months. My cat is hating the smell coming from the box, so I have to get rid of the bags as soon as she does no 2. She is starting to use the other cat litter and also the bath.
Surely there is a time on when these will come, or stop selling the cat evolution.
The smell is so bad after she has been.
