Petwant Automatic Pet Feeder Wet and Dry Food – 6 Meals
Cleaning Guide
So, you have invested in an Automatic Pet Feeder, which gives you peace of mind knowing your cat/s are fed without fuss and at the right time, whether you are home or not. Maintaining your new appliance is key to ensuring that it works as you expect and that your cat/s uses it with little to no fuss.
This article will look at the steps to ensure your Automatic Pet Feeder stays purr-fectly clean so that your much-loved fur-babies enjoy each of their meals.
I. Gather Your Cleaning Supplies:Mild Soap or Pet-Safe Cleaner:
Choose a mild soap or a pet-safe cleaner to avoid harmful residues.
Sponge or Cloth:
A sponge or cloth will help remove debris and deposits.
Vinegar or Baking Soda:
Natural cleaning agents like vinegar or baking soda can be effective in removing stubborn stains and odours.
Dishwasher-safe parts:
The manufacturer's advises that all parts except the Main Board and Ice packs can be washed in the dishwasher. NOTE I would be mindful of the temperature setting if placing any parts in the dishwasher in the event the plastic changes shape. Also, the cleaning products used in dishwashers can leave a chemical smell and taste which our cat/s don’t particularly like.
II. Daily Check:
It is suggested, if you feed your cat/s fresh or canned food, to wash the Food bowl of your Automatic Feeder daily. This prevents the build-up of old dried food that may build up and potentially cause illness in your cat/s.
When needed deep clean the whole feeder
Disassemble the Automatic Feeder and perform a more thorough cleaning regularly to prevent build-up of food residue and prevent bacterial growth.
III. Disassemble the Automatic Feeder:
Unplug
Before disassembling, unplug the Automatic Feeder
Separate Components:
Take apart the Automatic Feeder components.
Control board:
Turn the control board clockwise and take it out.
DO NOT submerse the control board in water or use an extremely damp cloth when cleaning this part as this may damage the electronic components. Ensure that the Control board is completely dry before reassembling.
When disassembled you should have a scenario that looks like the below picture.
IV. Scrub and Rinse:
At this point, you can decide how you are going to clean the Top lid, Base unit, and Food bowl as these three parts can be submerged in water. Whilst a dishwasher is convenient, high temperatures may cause a change in shape, so I would use caution.
Scrub with Mild Soap, open your dishwasher:
Use a sponge or cloth with your cleaning products and a sink filled with warm water to thoroughly clean the interior and exterior of each component.
Rinse Thoroughly:
Rinse each part thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue.
Dishwasher-safe parts:
The Top lid, Base unit, and Food bowl are dishwasher safe (use caution as stated above).
V. Address Stubborn Stains and Odors:Vinegar Soak:
For stubborn stains or odours, soak the components in a mixture of water and vinegar for a few hours, ensure you rinse thoroughly afterward.
Assemble Components:
Once all components are clean and dry, reassemble the Automatic Feeder.
