Meet the Maker, Automatic Litter-Robot III Open Air
Once upon a time, long long ago, a man chanced upon 2 cats…..
Well, not quite the true beginning, but a reasonable place to start.
The innovator behind the machine, Brad Baxter, started out as a non-cat person. When a couple of cats entered his life, the issue of the litter box arrived as well, as an unexpected downside.
AutoPets, originally Automated Pet Care Products, Inc., was founded in 1999 by Brad Baxter, developed from a background in auto engineering. Highly motivated to find a solution to scooping his cats' litter boxes, Brad sought to create the best automatic self-cleaning litter box, and free cat owners from the daily hassle of litter box scooping. The Litter-Robot made its market debut April 2000. The Litter-Robot enthusiastic team has created a safe and reliable automatic self-cleaning litter box that really works. It's efficient, eco-friendly, and requires only minimal attention.
The Automatic Litter-Robot III Open Air is not the first of its kind. The original model was the Litter-Robot II Classic, and then the Litter-Robot II Bubble, both more along the lines of Kenny of South Park cartoon fame, in design. The current version has definitely transformed into the kitty litter capsule, space aged rather than retro, and the improvements have also taken a big leap to bring the future into the now.
Based on Brads motto 'Listen, implement, refine, do it again”, the current version is a big improvement and shows the changes in design to incorporate larger cats (i.e. Maine Coon), add helpful features (i.e. night light, drawer full indicator) and to address issues that came to light in the earlier models (i.e. location of control panel and cat sensor).
The result is as far from the traditional litter tray as a dishwasher is from a sink of dirty dishes.
