Q&A
Hi, we are soon to welcome our new fur baby, a British Shorthair kitten. The breeders recommend a tofu litter. We want to provide the best litter possible with a Litter Robot Connect we will purchase from you. Is your tofu litter the best and most premium option please? ( Sean Mason, 15/11/2021 )

Thank you for your question. Not many Tofu litters are suitable for the Litter-Robot, as they are pellet shape which is too large and usually too light to drop through the sieve.

Cat Evolution Tofu is designed for Tofu lovers who utilize the Litter-Robot, and has added activated carbon to help with additional odour control over summer.

Note soiled Tofu is best removed from the Waste Drawer daily or at most, every 2-3 days as being an organic litter, it is less able to odour lock for long, and may also attract insects.

Which is the litter that is recommended as the best to use with the LR? I also have one cat that wees at the front and walks all through the wee when getting out leaving white footprints everywhere and litter stuck to her. Which litter would be best to avoid this ( Rebecca, 21/08/2021 )

The Litter-Robot is designed for clay clumping litter. The hallmarks of good litter for the Robot, and for your cats, is fast clumping, low dust and if possible, carbon or activated charcoal to assist with odour control in summer conditions. We have 2 clay clumping litters, Premium and Superior, currently available on our website, that are designed for these characteristics.

For your cat's particular behavior, all litters will struggle to absorb if she does pee at the edge where there is little litter. Faster clumping litter will help. I have a cat who also pees at the front (Pixel) and I have a fence in place, which helps move him back a little and encourages him to not step where he has peed. Its not a complete solution but has helped. I would also suggest tracking help, such as the ramp, which has scooped steps to catch litter from paws as your cats descend from the Robot, and a honeycomb style, litter trapping mat at the bottom, to help contain any litter that makes it to the floor. The ramp and the mat will help pick up paw prints and litter before tracking across the floor.

Tofu litter is lighter, and will usually track more, as well as having different clumping characteristics.

If you decide to purchase ramp and fence, we usually have accessory packs in stock and should be restocking soon, so do register your email to be notified when available again, if you would like to purchase as a bundle. Accessory packs include carbon filters, ramp, fence and liners.

What is the packaging for this litter made from? ( Shane, 30/08/2020 )

The tofu + carbon litter is supplied as 4x6lt bags made of polyethylene plus nylon, HDPE - based on a web search it should be recyclable. The bags are shipped in a cat approved cardboard box, for safe delivery, with Australia Post.

Can I mix premium clay and tofu clumping litter when using in the Litter-Robot? ( Tony, 04/08/2020 )

We have transitioned from Cat Evolution Premium Clay to Cat Evolution Tofu by adding Tofu to topup, and found that it mixes well.

Will this litter work with the Litter-Robot? ( Ken, 04/08/2020 )

We have tested the litter purrsonally, and it works with the Litter-Robot III Open Air well.

Doesnt work very well,it cant seem to cope with urine smell or clumping.Had to mix with clay to deal with the smell.

This is hands-down the worst litter we have tried - and we’ve been through many types over the years. We found that it did not cut the odour at all - if anything, it exacerbated it - and it became sludgy in the Litter-Robot. The sludge was getting stuck to the rubber even during cycles, which mean the tray was in effect still dirty as far as our cats were concerned. As a result of both the smell and the sludge, our cats started going to the toilet outside the Litter-Robot. So it’s back to Moshizon for us.

I much prefer the Tofu litter now - it really cuts out the smell and the interior doesn't get dirty as it does with the Premium Clay litter

Been trying to find tofu litter that is compatible with the litter robot for years! So happy that it is here, bought it straight away. Loving it because it doesn't stuck to my cats paws and leave a mess on the floor. Not to mention the smell has reduced by 80%.

 The activated carbon supposed to removes more odour but it’s not quite helping as you will smell litter (Corn?) and will be even worse when combine with urine
 Slow clamping makes it sticky (Urine+Litter) and stuck a lot on their paws
 also stuck on the rubber inside LR3
 Quite high tracking comparing with others brand
 High dusting and will be all over LR3
